Am I crazy, or does this not fit?

All three of the other guards slide perfectly onto that hexagonal axle nut, but weirdly this drive-side guard has a circular hole, unlike three other three that have holes shaped the fit the hex nuts, despite this supposedly being made for the Salt EX hub.

Is this package (which included nothing other than the hub guard) lying to me, or am I being dense?

Holding both sides of the bolt will help. Likely cant do without. I use a socket on one side and a cresent on other. But it should go inside that bolt. (A reason i go with universal, or a wheel specific guard) these things are always a pain in ass otherwise. And getting wheel aligned. Tight..without rub. And good chain tension always seems like a super pain in the rear. Lol

Altho I did have salt plus wheel. And guard on a WTP cysis and I dont think I had to put it inside bolt. It just fit over. So interested to see. If its inside bolt. I dont see how if when tightened down how it wouldn’t spin with hub.

  2. never seen a guard that makes you fuck with cone nuts, dont pay attention to people telling you to disassemble shit, not the way hub guards work, made for particular slide on use, not some fucking mechanic to tear your shit down and install. double check you got the hub guard you ordered and its for no only drive side, but for the rear.

  3. dealt with enough drive-side guards to see this and your cone is not compatible.

do NOT listen to anyone telling you to put it under the cone!!! if you do this you will NEVER get your chain on when you try put on the wheel, even if you somehow make it work, it’s gonna be a huge pain in the ass every time you try to take off your wheel. also if you ride somewhat hard and/or are learning tail whips, you WILL fuck up your driver bearings with that guard underneath.

if you want one that fits, get a g sport uni guard or eclat over guard, any similar universal guard which goes over the dropout. ran the g sport one for years without a hitch.
you could try a guard which comes with a cone nut which will replace the existing one; the only one like this that I know of is the cult freecoaster dsg would be a risk to try this though. alternatively next time, buy a wheel or hub which comes with a drive side guard.
