I’ll always have a kickstand on my bike. I can’t think of any good reason not to.

Just put one on my 96 GF Hoo Koo because we’re touring Kyushu, Japan, and my wife was sick of me brake-tying my bike and then leaning it against hers, which already had a kickstand. It’s convenient having one, just a bit more weight..

I recall having this on a giant or huffy. Some reason it kicked into place when I moved the crankset in to clockwise position. Making a sharp turn. Maybe I played with it and the placement as a kid.
Before I turned into postion it scraped the road and lurched the bike away from contact and nearly put me into the ground . I removed it after that but never saw them come back after that period in the 90s
They had other kickstands that were fixed but were never this problematic

People are always saying the stand will flip down while riding. If there’s any fear of that velcro it! I’m trying to find a kickstand that fits mine.
