London is about to become one of the best cities in the world for e-biking. In this video, Fully Charged founder, Ben, shares the major cycling infrastructure upgrades rolling out in 2025 — from a dozen new Low-Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) to protected cycle lanes in key boroughs including Hackney, Camden, Lewisham, and West London.

So why will ebiking get so much better in London and especially from this year? So 2025 will deliver a dozen new lowtra neighborhoods across London burs like Lambeath, Islington, Hackne, Camden, Brent and Sut. Major new protected cycle lanes in places like Stress and Lewish, Camden, West London, cycle line extension, East London, Canning Town to City Airport and along the Tens infrastructure is becoming more connected, creating real conscious networks rather than isolated upgrades. Political timing does matter. Councils are delivering projects in 2025 because 2026 is the election year and they want results to show before campaigning. Political changes in councils could slow down future progress though. Eg. There’s a risk of more cautious leadership or party changes. Funding from transport for London remains tight, especially post pandemic. Institutional hesitance at TfL around relocating road spaces to bikes instead of buses is still a big challenge. Road pricing was dropped which could have eased congestion and helped cycling projects. I think Sadi Khan would have actually been assassinated by the random.

  1. Outside of London the protected cycling infrastructure is still relatively poor. LTNs are few and far between where I live up in Herts. A lot more needs to be done by county councils to install modal filters to make cyclists feel safer from vehicles, especially in residential areas. But progress is slow and often hindered by local residents voting against them, not being able to see the benefits.

Sadly until this is done EAPCs will not grow outside of London, which is a massive shame.
