This beauty is actually called a Paris-Brest, and it was created in 1910 by a guy who loved cycling!

Literally, a pastry chef called Louis Durand wanted to create a snack shaped like a bicycle wheel to honor a 1,200-kilometer race from Paris to Brest.

Cyclists loved it because it was basically the original energy bar: praline cream, buttery dough, and enough calories to keep you alive on two wheels for a good 3 hours!

Usually the cream inside is hazelnut-flavored, but the one I got was all about them raspberries. And honestly, it was even better.

Next time you’re in Paris, you gotta try these out.

Have you ever tried a French donut? I’m in Paris trying out the best pastries in the city and I just got a hold of this creamy baby from Buli. It’s called a parast. It looks like a donut, but it’s more like a sandwich and there’s a lot of cream involved. Without further ado, let’s get to tasting. The bite is soft. It hits you straight with the cream and then the raspberries and the crumbs of pistachios finish the job and really nail it. Overall, that’s a four out of five. A solid choice for any raspberry fan that will cost you $7 to $8. Now, the real question is, does it taste better than an American donut? Uh yes.

  2. It’s more like a cake tho, not a donut*. The dough is kinda airy and tastes a tiny bit like peanuts, cream tastes like cream I guess. It’s good.
