Later today I'm looking at a Milwaukee Cream City track bike, looks to be a ~2007 model but not sure. The frame is a bit scratched but it's got omnium cranks, Phil wood hubs + cogs, and velocity rims. The stem situation is a little wild but I think it's fixable. If there's no cracks or major dents is this bike worth $425?
The main reason I'm looking to get it is bc my current bike frame, at 58cm, is too big. This bike is 56cm, will that be enough of a drop?

6’2” seems too tall for a 56, but all bodies are different.
Also looks pretty haggard for $425
This might be some niche frameset that’s valuable in the fixie, single speed, or track racing community, but I’m not super knowledgeable on that.
From my point of view, this is a 20 year old single speed bike that is rideable, but not in particularly good condition. I wouldn’t pay anywhere close to $425 for it.
$425 for a clapped out, almost 2 decade old fixie? no way
Is this one of their Waterford/Gunnar made frames? If so I’d pick it up if it fits.
Phil hubs + omniums get it around that price point for me.
I know it’s a buyer’s market out there but everyone is constantly lowballing on this sub like it’s a competitive sport. 58 should be good for you but height isn’t always the best metric
Those cranks are ~$250 and the wheels more. Cockpit is junk, but whatever
Buy it and part it out if you need to
$200 tops, and that’s only if you really want a fixie.
No, absolutely not worth it. Hell to the no.
Surprised no one has suggested that the fork might be bent yet.
I’m hyper aware of this after people in this sub (edit: it was actually r/FixedGearBicycle) pointed that out to me on my own bike.
That’s a fairly tight frame, but the tire looks too close to the downtube.
Might be worth $42.50
I think the wheelset and cranks are probably worth $425. Phil Wood hubs are bombproof and cost $300 new (each, not for a set) last time I checked. The frame is good quality, but beat up. If that damage is superficial, I would say that no problem, if it’s rusted as well then I’d be more concerned. Honestly, if it fits you and rides OK, and this is the sort of bike you want, then I think the price is reasonable.
I’m 5’10” and ride 58cm. 56cm is definitely too small for me. What makes the 58cm too large for you, at 6’2″?
Not at $425. I’m not great with sizing but others seem to think this is may be little big and I’m gonna agree. Give it a test ride. And don’t buy a bike without a test ride, anyway.
I wouldn’t spend $100 on that bike. It’s a mess and the parts are all over.
The fork looks bent backwards as well.
Nobody seems to have noticed, but those silver SRAM Omniums go for $200 alone on Ebay.
It was SRAMs track crankset and the silver was the rarest. It’s been out of production for awhile at this point.
Imagine looking at a pile of money that is $425. Now imagine it sitting directly next to that bike. You can only leave the room with one of those things which one are you taking?
There’s absolutely no world I’d spend that much on that bike. The fork looks bent, too. I’d rather not ride a bike and save up another month or two for something modern.
I wouldn’t pay 400 for that that’s for sure
I’d pay $125 to $150 for that bike
Naa ur really only buying the cranks, lol dont get this
