Still love bike commuting but there are definitely some parts that are consistently unpleasant.

Visited Chicago this summer. Was surprised how many people were biking/scootering with blind confidence and no helmets in what looked like pretty subpar facilities for a city of that size.

The music fits perfectly. I think I saw one cyclist with a helmet in the video, I wonder what woke them up to wear one 😀

I’m probably gonna regret this at some point , but when cars are in the bike lane (see 0:16), I flip their side mirror forward. That’s my lane.

You’re lucky if this is the worst part of your commute

I lived in Chicago for 7 years and biked 6 of them. It’s an excellent city to bike in. Absolutely fantastic. You just have to learn the residential streets that run parallel to main streets and because the city’s grid is incredible you can do that if you allow yourself enough time.
I live in Brooklyn now and I wish I had that option. New York’s narrow streets allow are tiny bit easier to be a cyclist on then Chicago’s really wide ones but I miss being able to completely circumvent major corridors with relative ease

Last month I posted [“Best parts of my bike commute through Chicago”](https://old.reddit.com/r/bikecommuting/comments/1mbouq3/best_parts_of_my_bike_commute_through_chicago/) and figured there should be some balance to the serenity of that video.
