Hi!
I’m getting my very first secondhand bike and it’s a grail cf sl.
It comes with a Rotor Crankset, not Shimano. Is that normal? Does that mean the bike has been tampered with?
My dads a pro cyclist guiding me trough this whole process and is a bit unsure about getting this as the seller is also just a reseller and knows nothing about the bikes past. I know Canyon sometimes puts Rotor in themselves but not sure if it’s a big problem?
Bike’s nice with a good price so wouldn’t want to miss out on that but also don’t wanna invest in something bad and then have to go get it switched/fixed
Cheers guys, it’s nice to finally be getting a proper bike
(Btw it’s selling for 1.35k euros)

the same crankset was installed by canyon on my Grail Al 7 aswell
There was a shortage of the GRX crankset back then. Canyon switched it to this Rotor crankset on most of their bikes. There was some issue with one batch of them, but other than it basically the same. It’s crankset. It has cranks. You put pedals on them on it turns.
For what it’s worth, my Grizl has the same crankset. I was in the same boat asking the same question before buying it, but in the end it’s been 3 seasons, 12k km and I didn’t have any issues with it.
To be honest, I would worry about the proprietary handlebars and about the fit a lot more in this case than about the cranks that you can always replace easily.
Some Endurace AL models were also shipped with Rotor Vegast cranks, it is normal.
If you look at the Canyon Outlet you’ll come across bikes that are configured differently than they were ever advertised on their website with unique wheelers or cranks.
Rotor is a known brand, even if it had been replaced by the owner I wouldn’t worry.
Rotor make cranks which are shorter than Shimano and that may be a reason to change.
If this is the 2023 version. You’ll be happy this crank is replaced. The original FSA crank this model came with was recalled.
