This is the Maison Fister, one of Kolmar’s most famous houses. Built in 1537 for a wealthy hat merchant, it blends late Gothic structure with early Renaissance detail. Frescos across its facade depict Old Testament figures and Holy Roman emperors, proudly showcasing wealth, faith, and power. The wooden gallery and octagonal turret were highly fashionable at the time. Though it’s called Fister House, the name comes from a 19th century owner, not the original builder. Today, it is a perfect example of Elsas’s rich architectural heritage.
