On the small island of Sark in the Channel Islands, cars are forbidden. Instead, people travel by bicycle, horse-drawn carriage or walk.

This gives Sark an unusually peaceful and old-fashioned atmosphere, with starry skies unspoiled by light pollution.

It’s so unique that Sark has been designated the world’s first “Dark Sky Island,” attracting stargazers from around the globe.
