(*Pic of my current beater for example)

Is there a clever name for the vintage 80’s/90’s road bike made single speed, cruiser bars.. (brooks saddle & fattest tires I can fit are my personal preference)..
a bit like “randonneur” style but essentially a city beater, commuter, no fuss, bar bike etc..

I’m in Philly, not much hills, so this has pretty much been my go-to for the past 25 yrs.
Just wondering if there is a cool name for the style? Or can we make one up?

“Alt-bar single speed” I think, is what it might be called.

If you flipped the bars over, it would be a “path racer.”

Very cool bike by the way, love the patina. Makes it clear the owner knows what he’s doing 🙂

  2. One brake, freewheel, no locknut on the front brake caliper . . . make sure to practice your foot-braking skills

Haha took long enough for that call out. Yes this bike was just pulled out the basement and pieced together with work left to do, new front & back brakes coming soon. For now, though it could go relatively fast, I only cruise, not taking chances.
