  1. How much is it onsale for and what is the year of the bike? Has it only had one owner? I don’t specifically know that brand, so I am going off the components.

Quick research suggests around $700 USD (but I don’t know where you are located so could be within a range of this give or take).

It looks like this model has an aluminium frame, which is worth considering. I’m always wary of purchasing 2nd hand carbon frames, as you just don’t know what the previous owner/s have put it through..

The ultegra groupset is a bonus, so I would expect the quality to be higher, but the age suggests that there could be some little clicks and noises present. Taking it to a bike shop for a quick once-over before purchasing could be an option?

    Are the brakes also Ultegra?

I can’t make out the wheels – what brand are they? I’m assuming that they are alluminium or a composite aluminium/carbon?

Inspect the braking surface of the wheel for a deep, sunken groove or small divots that act as wear indicators. If these indicators are gone, the rim is worn and needs replacement.

But if everything checks out, it would a good solid bike – especially as its your first. Try and see if the seller is willing to come down 10 or 15%. That will cover the cost of the first service and any minor parts replacements.

    Good luck..

  2. It’s kind of an old bike from an off-brand. Has a combi alum/carbon frame. People fret about the connections between the alum and carbon bits.

But it’s Ultegra (old ultegra). And is that a Ritchey stem? It might be a nice bike, maybe the owner’s got good taste and has taken good care of it.

If it’s in good condition, it’s worth considering. But it is an older bike and if things are worn out, you need to price that in.

    What’s the asking price?
