So I bought this frame off EBay from a bike coop. Happy to support them and mainly wanted to be sourcing used parts.

It was listed as a 26 inch Mixte. It’s obviously not a mixte but I figured that was just their way of saying it was a step thru. Now I’m starting to think it’s not meant for a 26” wheel.

Kinda bummed I took their word and bought wheels I thought would be compatible, but I’m building this up for my wife and wanted to get it rolling sooner than later

Judging from how the brake track lines up it seems like it was meant for 700C wheels. I know some old mountain bikes only allowed for cantilever brakes but it seems unlikely they would sit that much lower

Would love some input on this little conundrum

    Yea, wrong wheel size

linear pull brakes (V-brakes) and cantilevers use the same mounting studs and are interchangeable except for the lever pull.

  2. For that age of frame, I would double-check that it’s not actually built for 27″ wheels. I wouldn’t _expect_ that to be the case, but it would suck to buy some more new wheels and find that they don’t fit _again_
