In the winter of 2006 the town of Ipswich became home to one of Britain’s most infamous Spree Killings. With a reputation for being quiet, reserved and straight laced, no-one suspected 50 year old Steven Wright to be responsible for the murder of five women. Behind closed doors the forklift driver had a history of gambling, various suicide attempts and was harbouring a habit for prostitution use. What he was about to do would shock Britain and see him labelled as the ‘Suffolk Strangler.’ Moving into the heart of Ipswich’s red light district was the perfect opportunity for Wright to lead a double life. Whilst his wife was working night shifts, Wright slipped in to old familiar habits, curb crawling the streets and picking up a string of prostitutes. He built up a relationship with many of the women, becoming a regular customer and gaining their trust. These intimate bonds would lead to fatal consequences. The spree began in October 2006 when the first victim disappeared from the red light district in Ipswich. Within a matter of weeks five women would be reported missing and Suffolk constabulary would be at the centre of a major manhunt. However, it was only a matter of time before Steven Wright became too bold and confident – a single mistake would see DNA evidence link him to the crimes. With insight from those who lived through the crimes, investigated the case and knew him best, this episode explores the story of Steven Wright, and what caused him to embark on his killing spree.

LIFE
I was on the QEII in 1980- honeymoon 1st class- wow
Looks like Ken Schrader.
They always use the term normal like serial killers are gonna look some crazy type of way or act crazy 24-7. They r just people. People with serious mental illnesses but just people nonetheless like everyone else
I don’t understand why they didn’t do more for these women who still chose to be out on the streets while this was happening. They didn’t care about their safety making them a liability, so many deaths could have been prevented if they sent the girls to some facility to get better help for their addictions. It’s infuriating that he was able to commit that many murders in the first place..
A whole video and you didn’t tell us whyyyy at this point why waste time
Les vidéos britanniques sont très bonnes et bien narrée
Sid the manager told him to do it
23:05 Warum wird alles X-mal wiederholt?
Leiden die Produzenten unter Alzheimer? Ist die Geschichte so dünn? Hält man die Zuschauer für Vollpfosten????!
🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️
hes definitely got more victims as a man at that age doesn't just start killing he's probably been at it for years and this as he subconsciously wanted to get caught and this ways his way a killer doesn't just start killing at fifty odd and have a cooling of period of a night or two most killers have a cooling of period for many months and it gets shorter over time I definitely think he's got more victims buried or dumped in the middle of nowhere
I hate it when people look at girls like this as if they are nothing. I hope their souls rest in peace ❤❤
I used to know a woman who worked the street with these girls. She said that the girls all told the police their suspicions of the killer but the police didn't want to know.
I remember listening to his afternoon radio show on the BBC after school for years, never suspecting for a second that he could possibly be capable of such evil acts!
Steve’s father created a monster, then plays a victim. It’s the families of the victims i feel for. My mother or father would NOT visit me in jail if i was convicted of such vile acts!
I remember the father being interviewed saying that he wouldn't hurt a fly 😮 no he didn't harm a fly he murdered innocent girls 😢
That psychologist, Craig Jackson, was superb in his breakdown and analysis of who Wright really was.
Seeing the state of Wright's home – from that short panning video, makes you realise what a wrong un he really is/was.
