Just picked up this Specialized FSR CX ca. 2008. Though I know it's a bit dated, it's my first ever mtb, and I've been enjoying it so far.
That said, I'm sure it could use a few upgrades to make it more usable by today's standards. I'm a relatively big guy, 195cm, ~100kg, and riding for even just a few hours has been hell on my sitting muscles.
Besides a new saddle, what other minor upgrades/tweaks do you recommend to make the ride a bit more comfortable?

Level that seat out 1st
Bike fit is very personal and can be done by an expert or research and trial and error yourself.
First off, level out your saddle so your tailbone isn’t getting pinched, and set the seat height so your legs have just a slight bend at the bottom of each pedal stroke. That said, you’re pretty tall for an older frame, newer bikes are built with a lot more reach. Best move is to bring it into a shop for a proper fit. And definitely grab a good pair of padded chamois shorts as they’ll save your bum big time.
