Colly isn't all bad. Like everywhere, all the good pubs are shut. I spent my youth in the Oliver Twist, best live music venue this side of London. Crowded, sweaty, dirty, loud raw original bands trying to make it. My band played their twice , both on a Saturday night. Back then, getting a Friday or Saturday night was like a benchmark for local bands all over Essex and Suffolk. Playing the Twist would land you a Colchester Arts centre gig followed by a gig at the University. Playing all three got a band massive clout before the age of social media. Ahh the good old days. 😂

The playhouse is no where near the high street duh, but you can find a nice selection of cafes, restaurants, charity shops, hairdressers, cafes, charity shops, hairdressers oh yes pubs few of them but mainly fast or foreign food eateries charity shops and hairdressers. Not too mention the shops that have closed due to rent being too high in Colchester. Shite hole really on I forgot they do a nice line of cheap cars shops too 🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️
