Looking for a bike for my dad – he’ll be exclusively riding on smooth roads in good weather. Found this 7.5 FX that fits him well and negotiated down to $250. Single owner and looks pretty clean. Worth it or should i get something newer with lower specs?

7.x is getting up their in age but the 7.5 is near the top of the line. If it’s in good shape I figure it’s an OK deal, not a steal or rip-off.
I think I’d go for the newer bike with disc brakes but sometimes budget and frequency of use come into play. Occasional use? The less expensive bike. Up for daily commuting adding up to 50+ miles a week? I’d get a newer bike.
