  1. I dont want to be that person but It'd be great if we could have a little formality back. Paramedics wearing suits is cool. I do like the new green uniforms, though.

    Good video!

  2. I remember the big strike because Maggie Thatcher wanted paramedics. Not ambulance drivers, because that's what they were, not the HIGHLY skilled professionals they are now.

I don't support the strike, and the news was all sympathetic. Thank god she stood upto them, look what we've got now, freaking amazing.

  3. I required to wear a tie during my training. First day, dropped it in an unmentionable liquid, while I was wearing it. Nope. Tried a bolo tie, my instructor was furious. Hated it. Called it unprofessional. It still had long pieces, I wasn’t happy either. Still hated the idea of a tie.

I went to a tuxedo shop, bought the largest silk bowtie they had. Cost a ridiculous amount. I kept it reverently clean and well shaped. My instructor hated it. Staff snickered. β€œHe made me wear a tie. This is a tie. This is a NICE tie. He has nothing to complain about.”

Subsequent classes were not required to wear a tie.

  4. I can tell you as my father was one of the first registered paramedics (1979-2015) that he didn’t wear one of these. Smart white shirt, clip-on black tie and NATO jumper….
