Put a puncture repair plaster on the inside of the tyre. Unless the tube is bulging out when inflated you should be ok
xycm2012 on
Does it go all the way through the tyre? If it does you need a new one. If not, you’ll be okay to ride on it.

A new (or patched) inner tube will be fine…. As long as you remove the thorn/stone/glass or whatever created the puncture from the hole on the tire, that won’t re-puncture in the same spot again….
For larger holes, that an inner tube might actually push through… You can put a patch or sleeve on the inside of the tire..
I commute daily on tires with 2 or 3 of those…. Not a problem…

For everyone saying they need a new tyre: I’ll gladly take the ones you guys throw out.

I would ride it. Maybe put a patch on the inside for peace of mind.

Ya patch the inside you’ll be fine.

I’m riding with a similar cut with tpu inner tube, but will reinforce the cut the next time the tire comes off (super glue; patch)

I mean I’ve patched tyres like that with gaffer tape on the inside in an emergency (halfway through the Dunwich Dynamo) but it’s going to deteriorate quickly at that spot so at least order a new one in good time.

I’ve stitched up tires before with floss. If you replace or fix the tube and stitch the tire you should be good to go.
Once you put the inner patch on, you should be okay, but with it being right off the middle, the fix may wear over time. Just add checking the stitching into your pre-ride routine. Once the tire wears down, Gatorskins might be worth looking into if there is a lot of debris where you ride. I ride with one on my rear wheel and a 5K on the front, granted it looks like your puncture was on the front.

I would put a patch on the inside of the tire, and the tiniest amount of superglue in the actual hole, if the inner tube is fine then just leave it.

Cords don’t seem to be damaged should be good with a tube. If you have some it wouldn’t hurt to squeeze a dab of the glue you get in a puncture outfit in the cut on the tyre.

Rule of thumb, if you can’t see the carcass, just stuff it with a plug from the inside or put some glue in the hole

Super glue it

They are fine. Add some glue if you want. I have many cuts in my tires. None as big as that but close.

from my experience this is still more rideable than a sidewall hole. but expect more flats now

You can reinforce this area with a tire boot. (I used to carry a folded dollar in my flat kit for this sort of thing.) The patch kit cement is also good for the hole. This hole is big enough, that I would replace it on my personal bike. It is certainly fix-able and rideable. Just depends on your tolerance for tire cuts.

A puncture like what you have should fix relatively easy, just use a sewing needle you wont miss, some needle-nose plyers if needed, and follow: [https://www.reddit.com/r/cycling/comments/5axo49/comment/d9k5ik3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/cycling/comments/5axo49/comment/d9k5ik3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
