I got this GT Timberline and the bottom bracket is extremely stuck.

Tried the tool in vice + turn the frame thing, lots of penetrating oil, boiling water.

However there is also this weird makeshift metal part on the drive side, which the previous owner installed, possibly because they bought a non matching bottom bracket and made it fit?

What do you think? How do I get this thing off…

Edit: the metal part is the remaining part of an e-type front derailleur, as per top comment

  1. My guess is you’ll have to remove the drive-side bottom bracket cup first. I think rotation is to the right (clockwise)?

The E-type mount is simply a plate trapped between the cup and the shell. You might be able to turn it separately (clockwise) and break free the threaded cup. Can you remove the non-drive cup?

If you haven’t already, you need to perform this trick in a bike stand and have a friend either hold the frame or the stand, this way you can have one hand pushing directly against the socket to keep it in place and the other to push your ratchet or breaker bar. My bike stand is bolted to the floor at work, I use a 24” breaker bar and with the bad ones everything tries to twist on the upright post that my clamp is mounted to. Try loosening the left cup a little first (normal thread) and make sure you twist clockwise on the drive side cause it is left hand thread.
