  1. This is a pretty reasonable price, considering that it has Claris and mechanical brakes. My first gravel bike was in approximately this configuration. After half a year, I switched to grx and hydraulics. It’s a question of requirements. For example, I wouldn’t consider mechanical brakes for myself.

  2. What separates one bike from another is primary the groupset and brakes. This bike is spec’d with Claris (lowest spec) and mechanical brakes. More expensive versions will have higher spec items

  3. Not really. Aluminum frame and low end components. If you were buying this from a private seller, the same thing would be at most 3/4 of this price.

  4. You will have better specs (cues 2×10 speed hydraulic brakes) with a brand new canyon endurace allroad for approximately the same price. Also, cues is much more casual friendly on the gearing. But it’s either all grey or blue and is not the best looking. (Also, kind of generic tires but still good quality)

Here you are essentially paying for the (very good) look of a Scott bike, without the guarantees of a brand new bike.

Also, Welt bikes are pretty nice value. Look at the G90 or G100

  5. I’d look for something with hydraulic brakes and better drivetrain – IE Cues or GRX 400 – for around the same place. As others have said, the Canyon endurace allroad, Vitus Substance (the VR, despite having mech brakes, has a great Microshift Advent drivetrain), Cube Nuroad One

  6. Typical-scotsman on

Thanks you all for the great advice, I’m going to get searching tonight using your advice

  7. I have the Speedster Gravel 50 and have been happy with it. I put slick road tires so I probably should have waited for a road bike. Went from a three speed commuter so regardless it was an upgrade.
