Days 204-205. 41km (90,735kms 8yrs)
I didn’t set an alarm as I wanted a full sleep to recover, but I also didn’t waste any time getting ready to go (plus I only had enough water for one small coffee). By 08:00am I was on my way with damp camping gear, climbing the last of the dirt road. In fact had I continued an extra kilometre or so I would have reached a grassy plateau, but it would’ve been almost totally dark by then.
Seeing a farmer on his way back into his cottage I asked for some water, then felt bad when he decanted it from a plastic jug; he wasn’t connected to mains water either. Refreshed though I now descended this loose surfaced road, just as steeply as I’d climbed it. So steep was it that I had to get off to descend on foot in places until I was reunited with the lovely bitumen. And now I rode the brakes down a 10% gradient for over 1000metres altitude until I reached the outskirts of Mostar. What a beautiful approach to the town alongside the bright turquoise Neretva river. Crossing just south of Stari Most I got my first view of the famous bridge, destroyed in the war and rebuilt using rock from the same quarry as the original.
I met my warm showers host Hasan, dropped my things and went to explore the town, and was able to catch both days of the RedBull cliff diving event off the bridge. What a fortuitous time to arrive in Mostar! It did mean that the trinket stall-lined cobbled streets were rather busy too though.
I don’t know who won the men’s but Aussie Rhiannan Iffland won for the women making it her ninth consecutive World Series championship. Legend!!

morning. I slept very soundly last night. Eight hours like a baby. I was dead. Uh but I think I’ve done most of the climb in fact. So I’ve only got about 500 more meters of climbing on the mostly on the dirt still. And then it’s down down into Mustar where there’s a Red Bull diving competition off the famous Mustar Bridge today. So if I can make it in time for that, that would be incredible. Cute campsite. I did very well considering I’ve been on the side of a mountain. Um, very lucky to find this. Uh, next water is in about 10 kilometers. I’ve got this much to last me that far. I’m a bit parched. I’ve barely gone a kilometer and now I’m on this plateau with loads of flat bits. But it was dark. I needed to stop quicksmart. This should be the last dirt road climb of the day. There’s a bit more climbing on the bitmen. But what must the other route have been like that Muriel sent me this way? Cyther valor Yay! Into my last climb of the day. It’s only a few hundred meters, not too steep, nice and smooth. Let’s go. Good Hey, apparently this was a bank building and it was used as a sniper vantage point in the war in the ’90s. There weren’t still a skeleton of the building. W. I’ll come back and have a proper look. Right now, I’ve got a warm showers host. Um, so I’ve got to get there, drop the bike off, and then chill in Mosa for a day or two. Phew, those mountains were serious. [Music] Cheese and spinach measure that they have two kinds of jumper. First one is being on legs who get at least one is the best jumper and the second one is jumping on the head. Yeah, we’ll [Music] Let me tell you all of us here in the entire region. Everybody here Yes, it’s on top of my leg. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Still swimming fully clothed as I Olivia, it’s freezing. [Music] Oh my god, it’s so cold. But I’m about to sit in the sun, so I need to cool off first. Should I stay or should I go? Heat. Heat. [Music] Our fun out there now.

That's unusual. Have your audience encouraged you to go to more touristy areas?
Yeah beautiful 👍
So good to see both communities coming together again and enjoying life. The rebuilt bridge looks beautiful. Happy cycling.

It's like two separate worlds collide, I watch these on YouTube, so I was pleasantly surprised when I find out you are there. I watched the final round thinking you maybe dislike the crowd there, the numbers of people watching was insane. Congrats for Australia, the female diver crushing the sport, she is the goat 🐐.
