  1. I am not about to put down either the women who races back then, or now. But, the thoughts are all off. The women 40+ years ago were pioneers, and whoever put on that race did so with what was essentially a bunch of amateurs. But, you need to build a base of knowledge before you figure out how to do things and then do them well. The Men's Grand Tours all still have bad moments, but they have been figuring things out for a long time, and they have money.

    The biggest problem for women's cycling today is audience. They need more people to watch and follow, and that will solve many problems. And the biggest problem with them growing audience, women do not watch. I cycle and follow cycling. If I were to ask the men and women with which I ride, more men would know the names of the top women cyclists than women. Until women watch, they will not really grow.

  2. It just goes to show, you can hold opinions shared by most during your time, doesn’t protect you from looking completely foolish to the future generations
