The main problem with any old bike is that it is old. You never know which component will give up next, and when. You may ride it years to come with no issues, or be left stranded kilometers, even miles from home because the cassette suddenly decided it’s time.
It is not that the bike is not worth the money. It is that today you can get a new bike for not that much more, and even if people believe that back in the days components were better than today mainstream (which people certainly believed in back then), they were surely not 20y better.
