For the last two years, I’ve been really interested in the thought of living off of a bike for a couple nights!
Spent all day yesterday setting up my bike.
Did a little 4 mile loop and it’s not any more difficult than it was before I mounted everything. I have a cheap 700c gravel bike, but I feel like this is going to be more fun. I honestly feel like the mid travel full suspension he’s using is going to be more difficult.
This will be my second trip. The first one went well just didn’t have a tent at the time (used a hammock) I feel like I’m way more prepared this time. I’ve gone on very long rides before so the distance isn’t going to be what bothers me.
This isn’t going to be a massive trip. It’s just going to be a 40 mile ride to our destination, spend the night there and hit some trails in the morning then a 40 mile ride back. we’re both kind of testing the waters to See if we actually enjoy this before we commit to a bigger trip.

Hey man If you are having funny enjoy it!
Done fatbike
Saw a dude ride the Silk Road Mountain Race on a fat bike and finish. You’re gona be sweet and look bad ass.
Crazy AWESOME
I rode a surly pugsley down the tour divide a couple of years back and I want the only one. Might not be the fastest, but by far the most comfortable.
I don’t think it’s crazy, but it can be somewhat inconsiderate if you’re slowing an entire group down.
Went bikepacking on a piece of scrap metal that could be classified as a mountain bike if you squint your eyes hard enough (only backpack apart from one skinny frame pack). At some point my chain tore, had to clamp the broken link back together due to lack of a chain tool and still finished the last 40km (not shifting and pushing on hard inclines)
Your fatbike is just fine imo.
That reminds me I wanted to post a trip report thank u

Crazy? Maybe. Does it work? Does. Just ride!
I know a girl that rides one year round in Anchorage.
Been using fat bikes to bikepack for over a decade, they are the best tool for technical and sandy desert terrain. Just got back from my favorite overnighter down there.
