This Is What Happen If Your Kayak Flips!

(πŸ“Ή wild_bones_ on TT)

This is what happens if your kayak capsizes and you lose your paddle. First, if the boat flips and you end up in the water, stay calm and quickly grab the extra paddle from beneath the boat. 1. From a kayaker o can confirm that on white water you should never let go of your paddle and we don’t have spares so you either hand roll and try to make it safely out or get out of the boat as this is sea kayaking which is a lot easier than slalom kayaking

  2. Or you just do what I did when I was 17, fall completely out and hit my head on the kayak on the way back up, giving me a concussion for the rest of the trip πŸ˜…πŸ™„

  3. Hahahaha. Please, go forth and attempt to roll yourself back up the first time you flip over. Also grab that extra Greenland paddle (clearly the paddle a novice will have strapped to their kayak) and take your time putting it together slowly, underwater, on that breath of air you likely didn’t get to take.

Yes rolling is the correct recovery but if you manage this the first time you end up upside down in a kayak, you are the paddle master.

Eject, learn to scramble, enjoy pumping.

  4. Or simply buy a 36' Formula SS with twin Mercury 496's and never have to worry about flipping and drowning under a $299 plastic kayak you purchased at Dick's Sporting Goods.
