I'm looking for a new bike for general road and gravel riding. I currently own a 9 year old carbon diverge which is similar to an endurance road bike that you'd buy today. Looking to splurge because it's my 40th birthday present. I've narrowed it down to a Trek Checkpoint vs the Giant revolt advanced. The main trade off is that the former has electronic shifting, while the latter has nicer carbon wheels.
Revolt Advanced 0 ($4500)
Groupset: Shimano GRX RX-820 2x
Wheels: Giant CXR 2 Carbon Disc
Trek Checkpoint Gen 3 SL6 ($4000)
Groupset: SRAM Rival AXS 1x
Wheels: Bontrager Paradigm Comp 25 alloy
What say you r/whichbike?

I’d go with the Checkpoint. Ask if the shop will buy the stock wheels and put it towards a wheel upgrade. It’s not uncommon for shops to accommodate. Like Bontrager Aeolus Elite 35, Pro 3V (if they have them), or Pro 37V.
I have the Giant Revolt Advanced Pro 0 2021 and I am super happy with it. The tire clearance was a big selling point for me and the great components that were on there stock. Please let me know if you have any questions.
