I went for a quick ride yesterday and a few kilometers out I hear air gushing. Before I now what happened, I had a flat on my rear tire (pumped to 5.1 bar just before this ride, Muc Off sealant, Continental GP 5000S TR 30").

This is my first time getting a puncture. I was expecting a relatively small puncture like this to get sealed? The seal flush out, but didn't to much.

Do I have wrong expectations regarding tubeless?

Also, is there anything I can do to recover the tire or is it gone (I planned a long tour today, which I would like to ride…).

Shouldn't this seal effectively (it didn't)?

  1. Cut looks quite large. I’d put a tire patch on the inside. Also, how heavy are you? 5.1 at 30mm sounds high. I’m 76kg and run 4 bar on that tire.

That gash is too big for sealant to deal with, imo.

It to much pressure in the tire for the sealant to close it. The sealant just gets pushed out. I would suggest plugging it with a rubber plug, on your ride, because it’s quite a big hole. And when you finished the ride patch the tire from the inside.
