As the title says, I’m tired of being a poser! I spent my entire teenage years loving the bmx world, and now I’m in college, and I want to learn how to do this thing. I’m ready for the hate and downvotes.

But I need your help, I can’t do this alone and I have no bros that ride bmx or bikes in general. I want to learn how to bunnyhop, I’ve only managed to lift the front wheel and recently felt the back wheel and front wheel lift at the same time but that was only two times and I know it was cheeks.

Please help me no longer be a poser. I love y’all. Appreciate the support if I get it!

  1. Poser isnt about how good you are, poser is about how you act. If you ride bikes just to say you ride bikes and act cool about it then youre a poser, if not then youre just a beginner. Learn the basics and go from there, should be pretty easy and fun!

as someone else said you’re not a poser unless you act like a bmxer, even further than that you can get to the point you want to be at and shouldn’t expect any hate. Never be ashamed of the point you’re at in your riding career ever, everyone is on a different path. Start with the basics like learning to hop, then start hopping up stuff, riding down stuff and getting your bike control built up, once you feel comfortable on the bike then start doing tricks like 180s, learning fakies, etc. My one piece of advice would be don’t rush into trying tricks, if you have good bike control you should be able to learn many many tricks easily once developed, though pushing for immediate tricks and no bike control is how you end up with an ugly style and very little trick diversity, start with the basics always and work up from there

  3. Started in college. Senior year even. I’m 29 now and bmx has been the biggest thing in my life for the last 10 years . No such thing as a poser

  4. Begginer doesn’t = poser, so for bunnyhops try and scoop the back end up without lifting the front up. To do this you have to scoop the pedals with your feet by bending your ankle down and pushing on the pedals. Just practice this motion until you can consistently pop the back end up. Then lift your front end up like you are in the video first, when you do this you want to move your butt down and back in an L shape for maximum height. Once you’re front wheel reaches the highest point, do the skooping motion. Start practicing this out of banks at the skatepark, and then get the feel for it on quarters, then find some table top jumps near you. It is all about progression and slowly building up. We have all been where you are right now man, you’re a bmxer not a poser.

I learned to hop using a tiny ass bump like a speed bump or really uneven sidewalk blocks to get the feel.

Once I learned to kinda flow through that I pretty much understood that feeling of “pushing forward” everyone talks about.

I feel like it’s more of a core thing rather than an arms thing.

  6. Watch YouTube videos that break down the steps/movements.
More importantly buy and wear a helmet.

  7. learn how to english hop first (both wheels lift off the ground simultaneously) if you’re having a hard time getting the back wheel up, point your toes down (key) and lean uncomfortably forward (key) to help. do not use this technique to hop up curbs, just practice flat first. also you dont have to be flying, start slow.

this could take as short a 1 day to learn.

after you can do this easily, you can learn the american bunny hop where you bring the front wheel up first and scoop the backside.

This will be a bit further on down the line for you and you’ve got to be careful to not loop out (weird i know its a bunny hop but im living proof that its somehow possible) but the way I hop is by throwing my weight forward first then throwing it back towards the rear wheel so that the front comes up then once the fronts at your desired height, like others have said you just need to scoop the back end up, to practice that flat i normally point my feet down and genuinely just do the same scooping motion while putting myself slightly further forward to unweight the back wheel (but you won’t want to move your weight forward when actually doing a bunny hop). Hopefully ive explained well as ive just woken up 😂 let me know if anything needs clarifying.

I think you should forget for a second ; what you know to be a bunny hop. Forget that. Now just focus on ; while going slow, pull the bars up aggressively towards your chest.. then once you’ve done that a few times. Do that bar pull to chest + add tuck your knees bringing the bike with

    almost

  10. Bro with all love and respect: there are 1000 videos about bunnyhop and you clearly didin’t watch and use any and started to record yourself. Watch and use couple of them and than ask why it doesen’t work
