    Not sure if that indicates a service is needed but I’ve had nothing but problems with the X2 on my Pivot Firebird. I found a bike shop about 20 miles away that specializes in customizing Fox shocks so hoping they can also improve longevity. But frankly I think it’s the large can design that Fox didn’t permit engineering to spend the right time on.

    Looks like it may just need some air. Plug a shock pump in and consult the chart that should be stickered on one of the forks. Is there any fluid coming out? Does she hold the air you put in?

  3. Sounds like a Fox. If it sounds squishy here’s what id recommend

    1. remove all air from the shock

    2. Add 20 psi

    3: Cycle the air by compressing the shock ten times

    4: Repeat steps 2-3 until your reach your desired pressure value.

    This usually fixes the problem of air mixing into the oil. If it doesn’t send it in for service.

  4. Submit a warranty claim through Fox, could just need service but this generation had tons of issues and they have historically replaced them with updated versions for no cost (not sure if they still are but definitely worth a shot)

  5. Email fox service in Vegas, they’ll send you a new updated seal model for $180, no longer free.

  6. How old is it? X2’s from over a year ago had a known issue that caused them to fail. Fox updated the design and gives warranty claims a new X2.

  7. Classic X2 failure. They managed to make them defective from the factory for years. I had mine (1 season old) replaced by the shop with no discussion. It was doing like yours. Air leak. Hopefully the last generation is finally fixed!

    Since yours is not under warranty anymore you will have to have it serviced and the seals replaced with the improved ones but I would also consider getting something else, even second hand.
