Hi guys, I'm relatively new to the world of gravelcycling, so please excuse the noob question!
I'm going to do my first gravel race in a few weeks but I recently caught some broken glass which cut the tire and tube. The cut looked small but looking at it again I think it either got bigger or my memory deceives me lol. So my question, would you take the tire to the race or swap them out beforehand?
Thanks!

Are you really asking the internet? Make the decision yourself. it’s not as if you’re risking life or limb

  2. If it was a clean round hole I would have poked through and then patched from the inside. This is likely to get worse and then fail catastrophically because you would lose all air instantly.

    I wouldn’t race this.

  3. I had the same tire. And a sort of similar cut. I patched it from the inside and was lazy replacing it. Managed to do a race and couple of 100s besides daily riding from and to work. With my tire the wires were cut. So I feel you can still go quite far with that tire too. Just add a good tire boot. Mark the tire and check if the tire doesn’t tear. But also replace the tire so you don’t have to constantly worry.
I only replaced it after it started leaking air from another area.
