I have two great bike deals in front of me and I'm hoping you guys might have perspective on which is the greater value…or maybe tell me it's apples and oranges. I have the opportunity to buy the following:
Cannonade synapse carbon 4 for $1,999
Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 Gen 2 for $1,599
I know they are different bikes (road vs. gravel, carbon vs. alloy, gears, geometries, etc.) and at the end of the day the right bike for me depends on my personal use case and how it fits. But if you guys had to opine on what you think is an overall "better deal" where do you stand?
P.S. This is my first bike so I've been doing a lot of research and expect to learn a lot along the way, just trying to make a good upfront educated guess on what will work out best for me longer term and maybe a good deal can help tip the scales for my decision.

The best bike for you is going to be the bike that allows you to ride on the roads or paths that you want to. Really impossible to tell you, which of these is the better case for you without any info about what you ride or what you’re looking for. They’re totally different bikes.
I understand where you’re coming from, I think, but you really ought to figure out which style of bike you want first and foremost.
Value means very little in the bike world. Like yeah if you could get an Ultegra for the price of 105, all other things being equal, go for the Ultegra groupset obviously because it’s the better value. But the very slight difference you will feel in the groupsets will never make up for how comfortable you are on the road.
Do you like your handlebar more upright or more aggressive (ie will you be hunched down or more upright)? Short or long stem? Do you want the bike to feel snappy or comfortable and compliant? Will you be riding 28-32cm tires or do you want extra wide gravel tires?
