yes ulocks are resistant against most bolt cutters and grinders

Will be better than most of the locks you see on campus, but no lock is unbreakable. Depends on how desirable your bike is to steal.

Possibly, that’s a quality u-lock but if your bike is a $3k ride it may still be an issue. Make sure you go through the frame and maybe pick up a cable for the other wheel.

Depends on how nice the bike and how determined the thief. All locks essentially just keep honest people honest. Battery powered angle grinders are pretty easy and cheap to get and they can make quick work of a lock like this. I live in NYC so maybe my opinion is skewed but I say don’t lock up and leave unattended any bike you couldn’t live with losing. I wouldn’t lock up and leave any bike that had significant value. A sub $300 bike i’d feel comfortable with losing I guess. And a sub $300 bike probably wouldn’t be worth the hassle to a thief…. But you never know ow. What’s your limit?

Check if your campus has bike lockers for cheap monthly rental. As people have discussed it’s a good lock but time price and determination are factors in theft.
When I went to uni I could rent access to coded bike lockers for about $15 a month. Between a good lock and the coded lock up I had full peace of mind.

I have a $6000 bike I ride to campus and I use a kryptonite chain lock. Someone used a file or something and tried to cut my lock but gave up like 1/4 of the way through the lock mechanism.
Campuses are busy and have cameras but a thief with power tools and nothing to lose (homeless addicts in my town) will still try it. You can loiter in public areas getting high and being a nuisance for weeks after pawning a high end bike.
The only solution is buying a beater bike to ride to class. The only justice is blowing snot rockets on homeless people as you ride by or saying “eww stinky”. All my mountain bikes were stolen so I’m salty

Lost my derailleur once while locked up at school. So there’s that.

Abus is pretty Solid, but If you can afford it, use two different types of locks at least.
I use an Abus u lock, but a shorter Version reason is it gives thiefs less space to Attack and its easier to carry.
And the Second is a Chain lock ( to be more flexible when it comes to securing the Bike in a daily basis.
My general rule is your lock should be 10-20% the value of the bike. Unless your bike is very expensive most petty thieves will just look for one that’s unlocked or has a cheap plastic lock.

Probably not unfortunately 100 plus dollars is what a decent lock is now for how motivated most thieves are

Depends on the bike and location of the rack. I bought a used bike for $100 and used a kryptonite chain when I was locking up outside a uni, but there was a lot of theft even in the “secure” bike lock areas. Some universities also have bike lockers somewhere, which are slightly safer if you can get access to one.

Get a kryoptonite ulock with a chain to loop
But also look into renting bike rooms at uni many have them

It’s better than most, likely, but a battery powered angle grinder or a bottle jack would make quick work of it.

https://youtu.be/SpVOTEOMRuE?si=JlElUDDBjtfw3kwf lock picking lawyer, I have one it’s been good but it’s not a tonne better than what you’ve got there (but some better for sure)
Otherwise you could look at the angle grinder resistant U locks but they’re +weight and +$$$.
