The day has arrived. Geraint Thomas is about to begin his final ever bike race as a pro. Yes, you’re reading that correctly. It’s a sad day.

It’s going to be an emotional week at the Lloyds Tour of Britain. G will be decked out in his special edition INEOS Grenadiers jersey and part of a strong INEOS team, on home roads.

Luke’s also gonna be there, calling the shots for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, and we’ll be bringing you a whole host of pods across the week, in partnership with Lloyds.

See you after stage one.

  1. Good luck this week G, finishing work early Friday (stage 4) to get out and watch you guys fly by south of the Rugby area. 😃 You should enjoy this route. The finale in Cardiff will be something else!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

  2. Ian was a great cyclocross rider. im sure he was originally from Pontypool his dad lived opposite me. All the best, G. I'm on top of the Keepers pond stage watching.
. I'm fortunate to have met you in your tour winning year. I was also watching on the Alpe winning stage. may I wish all the best in your retirement, greatest ever welsh sportsman.

  3. G and Luke have both always come across as such laid back, genuine blokes. Chapeau G much love and respect from the Peak District. Gutted the 2025 Tour of Britain is not coming anywhere near me this year and I can't get the time off to get to Wales for the last 2 stages, but what a final weekend route for G. No doubt the fans will give you a weekend to remember.
Raffle entered. Great to get young people on bikes. I've also learnt/learned ( clearly Grammar School education was wasted on me!) how beneficial cycling is for mental health. A day out struggling up hills takes the mind away from it's usual thoughts.

  4. G – it`s been great following your career and also having the chance to be at the roadside in your 2018 Tour.
I feel safe to say that I reckon you are THE most liked & respected rider in the World Tour. You will be missed but you`ve left us all with great memories. I wouldn`t be surprised if the UCI were super helpful in allowing Ineos to produce a special jersey for you!
All the best with your future plans!

  5. Congrats to Geraint on his impending retirement! I mostly ride rural roads in my area of Wisconsin. The main animal hazards are deer, turkeys, and the occasional cow. A few years back I was chased by a Holstein that had gotten out of it's pasture. They're surprisingly fast over short distances. I've also had a couple of near misses with deer that picked the wrong time to cross the road.

  6. wow i would love to be roadside especially in Cardiff for that race and final day. oh to be at that Cardiff Castle party later on too. Take it easy on Gee Luke 🤣🤣😇😇🤔🤔🤡🤡🕺🕺🍻🍻🍻🍻🍾🍾🍾🍾 Enjoy your next chapter Gee! Thanks for your racing and what an ambassador you have been for the sport! Hope you get to share a glass with Matt Stephens if he is there too xx
