  1. There’s very different gear ratios happening there and the Kona just looks more versatile to me, for gravel riding. Don’t know your intended terrain.

    Kona is also not red which is nice.

  2. They are too wildly different bikes. Do you want to go fast or do you want to bikepack? You could do both on either, but the cuttthroat is by no means a gravel bike, more like a rigid mtb that can also be set up with front suspension.

  3. Whether one or the other is tubeless is not a point of comparison between these bikes at the point of purchase. Either can be set up tubeless relatively easily.

    Their geometries and intended purposes are different. The Kona is for actual gravel-road riding, the Salsa more for bikepacking on “any” terrain. I agree with others that the Salsa is much closer to a MTB despite the drop bars.
