Put on new tire now. If you want to be miserly, you could swap back to the old tire when you get home for around town stuff to use up the last of that tread.

Depends on how fast you’re wearing tires. I don’t mean to be snark, but that tire *appears* to have far more than 1000km of my riding in it.
But, /u/celeste_ferret is correct, the safest course of action is to replace it for the ride and then swap back to the old tire when riding where the opportunity cost of failure is lower.

Depends on what the route is like, that will last 1000km, but your going to have less traction and potentially less puncture resistance than if you put a new tire on now

U can always change it back, but not in the moddle of ur ride so put a new one
U can see its thin in the middle already anyway.

How many kms did it take to get to where it is? If you did that in 1000kms, might want a new tire. If you did that in 4000kms you’re golden.

I’d replace it. Better safe than sorry.

This appears to be a cinturato tire (pirelli). Spikes in the middle are not that high when new.
To me, It’s not done at all. So if you have any doubt swap with front and you’ll be good !

Tons of tread on there. Don’t sweat it.

Change it now, from my experience when tire pass that state you have much bigger chance of getting puncture. But of course it also depends how big those threads was originally

Make any changes to your bike or equipment a few weeks before trip in case something doesn’t work out. Don’t want to find out your tire has a defect, or your hydration bladder has a leak on the first day of your trip.

Screw it, wait until you’re walking to where you located one in the next town. It’ll build character and make for a good story later.

I would probably always swap for a new tire before starting a longer trip.
You can always put the old one on when you get back home.

Swap front & back, should be good for 1000km. But do bring a new foldable tire just in case you get a blow out

That tire is fine.

Either put a new tire or swap front and back if the front is in a better state

Is the tire worn out, no, but would I want to start a long trip on it, also no.
