I’ve been experimenting with mounting Topeak Versa Cages on a Topeak Wishbone alongside my 15L saddlebag. It handled everything perfectly on local rides and a long 3-country challenge. Would love to hear what other bikepackers think — would you try it?

Now I appreciate that the Versa Cages are good for 3kg each but that the Wishbone is limited to 2kg of weight. This still allows me 1kg per cage which is ample for my sleeping bag and sleeping pad.

I contacted Topeak who said it should perform with no problems and so far that has been the case. In case you are not familiar with these items I will include a short video of the set up and how it is currently working very well.

  1. Definitely needs dry bags but other than that – why not. Good for bulky and light items. I use the wishbone for bottles and have a handlebar bag for bulky lightweight stuff instead.

  2. Unabridgedtaco on

Would you prefer to carry them on the fork? I assume you don’t have eyelets, but if you did…
