Just got into full-suspension riding and picked up a Trek Slash 9.8 XL (wheelbase is about 131 cm). Finally have a bike that actually fits me.
Only problem: when I throw it on my Kuat Transfer V2, it looks like the wheelbase might be too long. Kuat says it’s rated up to 127 cm. The rear tray ends up at a pretty steep angle, but the bike still feels solid.
Snapped a few pics—does this seem fine to drive with, or am I better off upgrading racks before I regret it?

I would throw another tie strap on the back wheel for insurance and peace of mind, what are the odds of them both failing.

It’s fine, especially if you’re just driving paved roads. I load my bike on a rack that’s too small all the time with no issues.
The front wheel tray can be put into a lower position by loosening its bolt and rotating the metal insert. That should move the whole bike forward and make it a bit more level.
Its fine
My XL Marlin fits similar on my Kuat Sherpa 2.0
No issues so far 🤞🏼
Sell the Kuat for money towards a 1Up rack.
Mind me asking , what chain guard are you using??
The good old 200$ rack holding a bike worth 8k
I would get an extra voilestrap for the back wheel. Cheap insurance
I ran the same rack and position with my YT and had no issues with it for even long haul trips
Totally too dangerous, I’ll have to take that bike off your hands to keep everyone safe. Sorry.
you could probably shorten your wheelbase by letting air out of the fork.
It’s perfectly safe until you go over a speed bump and the low hanging rear tire snags it.
I had this exact same problem with this exact same rack. Guy at my LBS determined my bike’s wheelbase was just over the max of this rack. Check the specs of the rack and your bike to see where you are at. I was able to return mine and ended up ordering a 1up super duty. I’m more than pleased to with the end result. The top of the line kuat looks impressive though. The lower models not so much.
No, mtbiking has inherent risk. 😜
Get a 1up and never worry about it again
That’s why I got the piston pro X
