Are you really sure you want carbon rim brakes? I recently bought mine and they are fast and look cool but the breaking is kind of brave. I mean it stops but downhills – it is a different world.
You are asking for the best, that might be expensive. Do you want tubular or regular tubes?
I guess elite wheel edge are very well but surely not the best – the best for its money.
Campagnolo Bora might be an excellent choice for this italio racer 🤌🏻🇮🇹

I mean it looks like an entry level alloy wheel set. There are also very nice carbon wheelsets like Campagnolo Zonda (mid tier) or fulcrum racing zero which is an excellent rim brake choice for alloy.

  2. You can make a good argument for something like the Campagnolo Bora WTO: [https://www.campagnolo.com/us-en/bora-wto-45/WWRBORAWTODL45.html](https://www.campagnolo.com/us-en/bora-wto-45/WWRBORAWTODL45.html)

It’s been 5+ years now since manufacturers put any serious development effort into rim brake wheels. Bora WTO is the final statement from Campagnolo, and is very aero, quite light and has excellent hubs.

It also has a very durable textured braking surface that gives the best braking I’ve had from carbon fiber wheels. The brake pads are excellent. If you mostly ride in dry conditions then I personally consider the braking very much “good enough”.

It’s available in 33 mm, 45 mm and 60 mm rim depth.

The best is what you can afford vs what will work. I love my road bike but it’s not my main bike. It has rim brakes which for me is fine as I don’t ride this bike in the rain, there’s no massive descents where I ride and the maintenance is easy.

So I got a pair of Superteam 50s and along with SwissStop Black Prince pads, they’ve been great.

If I rode this bike more and/or in wet conditions I’d stay with aluminum rims.

Princeton Carbonworks and Lightweight should both have some rim brake options in the $4500 – $10 000 range.
