Hi everyone,
I just got a new Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7 Speed. On my very first ride I noticed that the left SRAM shifter/brake lever can rotate when I hit bumps or apply strong pressure.

I checked the clamp bolt under the hood and tightened it to the recommended 6 Nm (even tried 8 Nm). The problem persists: the shifter still slips under force.

On the right side everything is perfectly solid. No bar tape between clamp and bar.

Since the bike came pre-assembled, I’m surprised this issue showed up immediately. Could it be that they forgot to use carbon assembly paste under the clamp, or is this more likely a defective shifter clamp?

Has anyone else had the same experience with Canyon builds? Should I contact Canyon warranty/support right away?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Is the shifter collar slipping on the handlebar, or the hood rotating while the collar stays at its place?

I had this issue, the bolts and then clamps had to be replaced at my lbs. Covered by canyon.

Could also be worth trying a bit of carbon paste underneath and see if that holds it on.

  3. Sram had a recall for those bolts but it was the last Gen… My guess would be missing grip paste

  4. I have the same issue. I’ve tightened as much as I dare. Im not good at putting bar tape on, so holding off until I really have to apply the grip paste.
