Picked this ‘ol gem up. 1984 Gitane grand sport/deluxe.
Paint was chipped in places and rust – so I went all out on the steel frame. Sanded most of it. Splotted different shades of spray paint. Sanded it again. Mixed some black, dark brown, copper paint – flung it in then lightly sanded again.
I like it. When I went to look at bike, it’s nothing fancy but it rides perfect. Like best bike I’ve ridden so it’ll be my rat rod and probably main ride.
Need a rack, anyone have an old one?
Had to add tires and pedals are too small, other than that brakes, shifter, derailleurs work perfect so as they wear out will replace. Never used side pull brakes so that will be experience but adjust as much at YouTube tutorials taught me.
Then bought a PBR, drank it, cut up can and made a head badge out of it.
Not a big PBR connoisseur but I like it.

How did u adhere that sick head badge
Be sure to upgrade the brake pads. Those look like the originals.
