Wrexham AFC’s rise from non-league obscurity to global recognition has been nothing short of remarkable. Backed by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the club’s growth has been fueled by slick marketing, powerful storytelling, and an authentic connection with fans around the world.
In this video, we explore how Wrexham AFC turned into one of the fastest-growing football brands in the world. From Welcome to Wrexham on Disney+ to global shirt sales, record-breaking sponsorships with United Airlines, HP, Meta, and the STōK Cae Ras stadium deal, Wrexham’s commercial success is rewriting the rules of modern football.
CEO Michael Williamson recently revealed in an interview with the Financial Times that Wrexham’s commercial revenue is now comparable to mid-table Premier League clubs such as Brighton, Brentford, and Bournemouth. That success comes down to more than just results on the pitch — it’s built on Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort marketing approach, Rob McElhenney’s fan-first storytelling ethos, and the club’s ability to connect emotionally with supporters across the globe.
From selling nearly 100,000 replica kits (half shipped overseas) to breaking transfer records with the £7.5m signing of Nathan Broadhead, Wrexham AFC are proving that football and storytelling together can drive incredible growth both on and off the pitch.
Join us as we break down the key factors behind Wrexham AFC’s meteoric rise:
⚽ Global distribution deals (Dick’s Sporting Goods, Pelé Soccer, New Era)
⚽ Sponsorships with worldwide brands
⚽ Welcome to Wrexham’s 5 million-strong audience
⚽ Stadium redevelopment at the STōK Cae Ras
⚽ The long-term push toward the Premier League
Wrexham AFC isn’t just a football story anymore — it’s a marketing masterclass in how to build a global brand.

Good plan, and glad it is doing so well. Now maybe come up with a plan to deal with game day parking issues now and in the future. Pretty sure the fans would like that issue dealt with, along with land sold to the university. Oh yeah maybe do something with Ryan Reynolds Park finally. Just my opinion.
Great video
How many teams get relegated in the Championship League?
I just joined! Let me know what number I am!! ❤🤍❤
And joined! As a US west coaster who's new to Championship pitch requirements, your videos this summer were just awesome. My UK relatives are stunned by level of knowledge now. 😉
It's a story and a half..with plenty of detractors snapping at our heels..our story before we arrived in the championship is done and is written in history..but the real fight begins..to concrete our place in the championship league..and if the heavens allow..we will march on with strength and pride and drag this historic team into the premier league..is it pie in the sky story telling..who can say..but what we can say is..nothing happens without grit ..determination and some semblance of financial fortitude..whatever happens from here on in..is all icing on the cake..and ohhh what a sweet cake it is..up the Dragons..Up the Town..March on boys..your time is now..🙏
Thank you for another well written and produced vlog. Like we say in The Netherlands 'Quality always wins'.
Brilliant work again. Tom. Really appreciated.
Great information as always.
Would it be possible to have more reporting about the women's team in the future?
Thank you for another great video.
Thanks Tom!
Sometimes those of us not from Wrexham forget that Ryan and Rob have only had the club for 4+ years. It seems so much longer. We never had to suffer through the bad times. It's pretty remarkable what's been accomplished in that period. Things are really just getting started.
Have a great day Tom 😊
sorry to be a kill joy. As much as I loved Wrexham's journey through the tv and I do wish them well I think a couple years in the championship is required to allow stability. stadium infrastructure and personnel management to be established. I wish you well and will follow with my heart.
Nice work Tom.🎉🎉🎉
4 years later, not three. forgot the first year of ownership we fail at the playoffs.
Why do people keep insisting on putting forth the false narrative that Wrexham has revenue equal to established Premier League teams? Wrexham generates 7 million a year on kit sponsorship, while Liverpool gets 77 million a year for kit sponsorship. Last year, Arsenal generated 117 million from playing in the Champions League. How much did Wrexham generate from playing in the League Cup? Chelsea brought in 100 million this past summer, playing in the Club World Cup in the United States. Again, Wrexham has no equivalent tournament revenue.. This year, Wrexham averages about 10,000 people per home game, while Manchester City averages about 53,000 people per match. Does that sound like equivalent revenue? I hope I put that false information to rest. It really doesn't take more than five minutes to figure out through a Google search how silly that preposition is. Please stop perpetuating it.
Been watching the channel since last year I think? What I like is the short videos about the. Club and the stadium. The female voice is good. The old voice of Tom was good also. Keep up the short and informative videos.
First of all, thank you for all the beautifully shots of Wrexham! for somebody who is not living anywhere near it, its an amazing way to see more of the town I fell in love with in welcome to wrexham, and to see whats going on on one of the oldest pitches in the world! Just one well ment criticism: please get someone to say the words into a mic! Wrexham feels such a real and honest place in the documentary and the AI voices feel so robotic! A simple voice with an honest welsh accent would make your videos go through the roof!
Keep up the amazing drone work!
They grew as fast as the atmosphere in the stadium went away.
They can't cook the books from now on though, PSR will bite you eventually
Thanks for the great story Tom. Again only audio today. Needless to say that I have not received a reply (nor was I expecting one) as I would have forwarded to you.
