Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on choosing a bike for my daily commute. I’m 183cm tall, weigh 115kg, and plan to ride 12km each way to work on paved roads. My goals are to use it daily for commuting and to help me lose weight. I’ve been checking out a few options locally, including:
A Winora hybrid bike (aluminum frame, front suspension, Shimano gears, rack included)
A Felt Eighty Five Racing road bike (light frame, drop bars, Shimano Tiagra)
A Vortex mountain bike (sturdy frame, wide tires, front suspension)
A Hercules hybrid bike (aluminum frame, Shimano gears, rack)
I’m leaning toward the Winora hybrid for comfort and durability, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Which type (hybrid, road, or mountain) would you recommend for my situation? Any specific tips for someone my size or for weight loss through cycling? Thanks in advance!
Note:
the Felt is about 200$
and the others is about 140$

If it’s for commuting you’re going to want to prioritize durability, tires, etc. over things like weight, aerodynamics, speed, etc. It would be silly being late for a meeting because you had a blowout on your race bike.
Get a smooth rolling wider tire comfortable hybrid bike.
Re: Fitness… that is more about effort exerted and calories burned rather than how fast you’re going. You can get fit riding one of those 1800s bikes with the giant front tire and tiny rear tires.
