They look cheap new and even worse once they’re dirty.
Granted, I have grey, skinwall Ultradynamicos on one of my bikes but those rules don’t apply to those

I’ve never seen this with a good tire. If it exists, tell me, and I’ll buy a set.

Eh, only if they are at the right price.
Recently I got some brown tires that were on close out from Trek. $7.18 each. I snagged a couple for the donation bike I’m slowly putting together.

Shitty booty tires.

I think some of those colorful tires look good when they go on, but they look worse than a black or tan wall tire once they’ve gotten a bit of dirt on them.

Do you playa! Forget the haters. Haven’t built a bike that needs them yet but could be cool. I think it’s going to come down to form vs. function. This sub tips the toes in both but the scales tend to tilt towards function. Make sure they ride nice for your application.

I honestly like color tires. Seen several on here and in person. Most of the time though they remind me of all the box kids that duck around in traffic, which has turned me away from them.
Panaracer Fire XC are a cool comprise in color for me.

Do it if you want. Or don’t if you don’t. Have fun.
Light colours do show dirt immediately, and coloured compounds are prone to aging faster.

Panaracer sells some limited runs of colored tires. If you’re interested in colored tires those would be the ones to get IMO.

From what I’ve read the color additives make the tires break down faster, and tan walls leak more air than black rubber. That being said, I have some tan walls and some green tires because they look cool. Just don’t get some light colors and get mad when you get a black streak down the middle after a few miles.

I think color tires look like shit, look cheap, and I would expect them to compromise compound quality for the color.
I built my brother a single speed from a black Peugeot and found some nice cheap red Kenda tires and the bike looked great.😊
FZ_Milkshake on
Just be aware that they will degrade faster in sunlight. Black color is a great UV protection and carbon black lasts forever, cause it is not a pigment that could break down.

They’re hideous, but it’s your bike.

I’d be down only if they are colorways of Billy busters

They’re great if you never ride your bike outside.
Bad choice if you ride outside.

Save your money … at least for the ones the OP posted. My experience with Sunlite color tires … heavy and breakdown and crack quickly.

I need some green tires for my green bikes.
that being said would be tad harder to keep clean.

To my eye, reds, blues, and purples look kind of cool dirty because they are, well, cool colors. Darker. So the dirt isn’t too stark.
The others, warm colors, look crazy when they are dirty. I could never.
No_Indication3249 on
My experience is they’re dramatically less durable than black tires, to the point that they have to be pretty cheap to be price-per-mile competitive with high-quality tires.

My experience with colored tires riding BMX is that they don’t last, even I don’t use colored side walls.

This is my 1980s childhood all over again. I used to ride a blue BMX with blue tires, while my riding buddy’s was red on red. We used to debate the esthetic merits of blue vs red on every single ride.

It’s pretty sick, but I tend to always tear my tires a good one, that would make me really sad to see some rad tires like that go to waste.

If it fits the build I think it can look cool, but I think you will be sacrificing quality and durability. I used to work for a tire brand and always wanted to do limited color runs, but the engineers hated it because the dye would weaken the rubber compound.

I have / had blue, red, violet and yellow gravelkings. Sk wears very fast. Let’s say around 2000-3000km. If you want style, ride quality but at premium price and will change tire every season then they are great.
After I saw that last year violets are almost unusable last month I decided that next pair will be normal tires.
I also had BRN – they were catching dirt but also were more wear resistant. And around 20$ for one.
I used to have hot pink Tannus tires on my blue Fuji road bike, and then I added an orange / pink / green swirl frame protector. It was amazing!

I bought a bike secondhand that had coloured “brand you haven’t heard of” tyres.
They did look quite cool but they were really heavy and made it horrible to ride. The bike has new tyres now and is much nicer to ride.

I am never going to wash my tires. That said, some varieties of sidewall colours are nice.

They are nice when new but they go dirty really quick. Bigger problem is that some of them don’t stand all that well against sunlight and they deteriorate faster than black tires.
