I recently returned to Seattle from a trip to Germany with my C Line. I mostly took it along to tour the Mozel river valley for about 200 Km (125 miles) from Trier to Koblenz. It was much more work and cost to bring than just renting a bicycle on the other side, but I really wanted to give it a try, and it was really nice having the Brompton with me!

I'm happy to report that it arrived and returned completely undamaged. No new battle scars! I packed it in a Vincita Sightseer 4.0 bag with some clothing in the garment bag, some foam blocks, soft foam wrap, and bubble wrap. I also removed the saddle, clamps, and protruding parts like my rear rollers, kickstand, and mirror.

I checked it as sports equipment, which was pretty expensive (about 125.00 USD each way), but I also think this kept it marginally safer. Because of the nature of the tour, I also had to lock the Brompton up outside from time to time, but leaving it unfolded with a LITELOK X1 through the triangle did the trick.

This was a very easy tour with luggage service between accommodations, so I didn't need to take much of anything with me during each day. I'm hoping to try some light bike camping or a less supported tour in the near future (so many Vincita bags to try). I was also happy to spot some other Bromptons on the trail, including a G Line!

Happy folding!
