  1. I ride fixed gear a lot and people ask me how I stop I say I use my brakes. When they say why do you use brakes on a fixed gear I say people drive cars.

  2. You can also skid without any foot retention, you can put your dominant foot under the pedal as it rotates down and pull it up while your non dominant foot pushes down on the other pedal that is rotating up (basically performing a normal skid but without a strap or any foot retention) Also make sure you're either standing or you have your body on the frame rather than just sitting on the saddle, it makes it easier to skid if you put your weight on the front or if you stand.
Edit: It's still not quite reliable nor safe and I would highly recommend getting a foot retention, budget meal straps like Ragusa are fine but if you want higher quality straps, go for sackit straps

  3. Riding fixed without foot retention has few advocates for a reason; they either learn or die from the accident that is inevitably coming their way.

  4. I wouldn't want a bike with one gear that's just not me I tried to ride one but it felt harder. Most of those bikes all of those bikes have no brakes. I just ride bikes with a lot of gears. I like old vintage road bikes I like mountain bikes and hybrid bikes.

  5. bunch of dudes bitching about brakeless but are yall just cool with the no foot retention like holy shit this dude is a mad lad I just bought a lo pro that had no retention I rode it for a grand total of 5 minutes before putting some cages on 🤣
