Hello guys, how are you all doing?
So, I have a Swift Enduravox 2023, road bike, with 28c tires. Swift/Sense also sell gravel bikes, so i’m thinking about changing it for a gravel model. Analyzing the gravel options, they’re basically my bike with bigger 40c tires, and sadly the don’t provide clearance info or anything valuable on this matter, so maybe I can’t go much bigger (and don’t think I need to).
Do u guys think that I could run a new wheelset with 40c tires on my current bike to cycle some dirt roads, mostly rural, and also keep my current 28c wheelset if I want to do some asphalt only, or would it be better to change bikes entirely?
Any input is appreciated, thank you!!

If the current frame will fit 32’s, I would put a set of those on this bike and call it good for a year and see how you like gravel riding. I rode gravel for years on 32’s and smaller width tires before buying anything gravel specific. Then if you really want something more, you will have a much better idea what you want/need because you have spent time riding gravel and dirt.
You can run 28s on gravel if you’ve got the stones for it (pun intended). I run 37s and have no problems. Measure the clearances with a set of calipers and shoot for maybe 35c if you can.
Last year I rode the entire year on my 2022 Trek Domane SL5 with 38mm gravel tires and it worked out ok, but this year I bought a custom Jamis Renegade gravel bike and set it up with the 1x SRAM AXS Transmission mullet drivetrain (10-52 cassette and 42t chainring). I alternate between two wheelsets, Specialized Pathfinder Pros on both, 38mm on one set and 42mm on the other. I like my gravel bike so much more than my Domane for so many reasons, mostly having to do with how comfortable it is, how fast it is, the superior gear range (in spite of 12 speed vs. 22 speed), the clearance…everything. I ride a mix of about 70/30 (road/gravel), but I’d rather ride the Jamis than the Trek any day for some reason, and it’s not just because it’s new. Mostly it’s because SRAM’s 1x electronic shifting is amazing with the direct mount derailleur, thanks to the UDH frameset. It’s bulletproof and having 50mm clearance is awesome. It’s easier to clean and maintain as well. Hope this helps.
It doesn’t look like you have much more clearance available. How much that matters depends on the local trails. I’m guessing those aren’t tubeless so you pick up some 30-something tires to try out for a while.
Literally check your frame. How much clearance do you have where the tyre is close to the frame
They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.
A road bike with big tyres is a road bike with big tyres. A gravel bike is a 90s bike with drop bars please don’t confuse these things they are very different.
Gravel is a mindset!
I can’t fit 40, but I really like 38s on my rig.
they might fit yurz 🤷♀️
