Most people recommend to downsize if in the middle – why?
I am buying a new bike because mine is (way) too small and I am afraid to repeat the mistake.

Smaller. A lot easier to make a smaller bike bigger than a bigger bike smaller.

Definitely get the Small. Canyon’s run a little big. You can very easily make a small bike bigger, but not a bigger bike smaller. I was also right smack in the middle between the XS and S and went with the XS (Also a Grizl OG). Adjusted the seat post and it fits perfectly fine.
I have a small Endurace and was about the same on the chart. I might size up next time, but that may also be related to either the Endurace geometry or the all-in-one cockpit
Too funny. I read a Reddit thread yesterday that said the exact opposite. Said to size up not down.
With Canyon and their integrated cockpits, I would base a lot of the decision on stem length.
