Hey all,
I recently bought a brand-new Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 (2026) and was super excited when it arrived. But there’s a huge catch: the left side of the downtube is misprinted and literally says “Canyo” instead of Canyon. Big factory error.
Timeline of communication with Canyon:
1. I immediately contacted them with photos.
2. Their response: “We’ll order a new frame and do a free swap in September.”
3. I asked about compensation → they said “compensation = new frame + free rebuild.”
4. I pushed back (it’s their mistake, I lose time, travel to Rotselaar/Antwerp, and my trust in their QC took a hit).
5. They came back with:
• Frame will be destroyed, I can’t keep it.
• I can choose: swap at a Canyon service partner near me, or UPS pick-up.
• Or: full return within 30 days, refund, and re-order (with normal lead times).
• But: “No further compensation possible.”
My frustration:
• They treat it like it’s normal that I have to spend time, reschedule work, travel, and potentially miss rides.
• They don’t acknowledge the inconvenience beyond “free rebuild.”
• Destroying the frame seems like an overkill; it’s a unique piece and I’d even consider keeping it if I had a certificate of authenticity (to prove resale authenticity later).
• If I let them rebuild, nobody ever knows this error happened → their reputation is safe, but I lose out.
• If I keep it, I ride around with a “Canyo” logo → people notice, and it’s basically rolling proof of Canyon’s QC slip-up.
My current options:
1. Accept the frame swap. Bike gets rebuilt properly, mistake erased, but I’m stuck with the hassle and no compensation.
2. Return and re-order. Full refund, but then I’m bike-less for months.
3. Keep the misprinted frame. Live with “Canyo” as a conversation starter. Could even be cool/unique — but I’d need some proof (certificate or paperwork) that it’s authentic to avoid suspicion when selling later.
What I need advice on:
• Would you go for the swap, or keep the misprinted frame?
• Anyone here ever kept a misprinted Canyon (or other brand) and how did it affect resale value?
• Where can I order proper Canyon decals/stickers (white, downtube size) so I could just cover it up and ride?
• Any thoughts on pushing Canyon further for fair compensation (e.g. credit, accessories, powermeter pedals)? Or am I at the end of the line?
Would love to hear your takes before I make the call.
Thanks!

This is incredible!
If you go for 3, won’t be hard to find a sticker to get the N, do a search, people posted where they bought matching stickers to change the color of the logo/text.
You probably don’t really want to hear it but if I saw this in the wild, I’d probably run up to you and take a picture. 😅
Rule 1 is to always show the drive side of the bike! /s
This is a new one. I’ve never seen that before. Yes, you can get custom Canyon decals. Probably easier than sending it back etc.
I’d leave it as is. It’s a talking point, but maybe that’s just me as I’ve never sold a bike on.
Full refund. Your bike, Your Investment. It doesn’t sound like you are satisfied.
That is the best post on canyon fuckfest quality control ever
Option 1 and dont make to big of a deal out of it
If you keep it, it will certainly reduce its resale value. Even if you can prove that it is an original.
How long do options 1 and 2 take?
Definitely get it fixed because as you said resale may be difficult. That’s poor costumer service from Canyon.
Mistakes do happen and this is a one where you can all but laugh. Canyon have offered to correct their mistake with several solutions and I would take the first one.
If I were Canyon I would send you a sticker pack as compensation and hope you see the funny side to it!
Unbelievable how this went through the QC. If this was me I would definitely send it back with some funny printed N on the frame
You can’t really expect them to, you know, look at the bicycle before putting the QC PASS stickers on. Completely baffling.
Love it! Go for option 3. Your proof that it is real is your registration on the canyon site/app where the bike is shown with serial number plus frame and fork have small qr code stickers.
Sucks and hope this won’t happen to my order to be delivered in October. And clearly QC failed big time. Not only QC, but what about everybody touching this bike in the meantime, installing parts etc.
But then, probably not a popular stance on this, I do think Canyon offers all the ressonable solutions to this mishap. Altough this sucks for you in this case, I don’t think you have rights to any compensation or anything. Mistakes happen and provided options seem fair.
I would definately not keep the frame, even though it is cool in a way. Reselling this later on is going to be very difficult. A certificate is useless in my opinion, anyone could intentionally paint the frame the way they want.
Did you ride it yet? How was that?
