Hi all, I’m trying to buy my first carbon road bike switching from MTB! Could you help me evaluate the deal here?
SRAM Red derailleurs(Aero Glide?)
Dura ace cassette
Speedtuned delta carbon wheels
105 crankset
I’m not sure how much this is worth due to the mix matched components. Is this a good find or avoid? Seller asking for $1000. Thank you!

Depends on your local market. They definitely aren’t carbon wheels though
Not when a new one is 300$ more
I’m way over on the other side of the country from you, but I’m selling my 2022 Domane SL5 with carbon wheels for $2k. ….so no, I would say a 10 year old bike with aluminum wheels and rim brakes isn’t worth half of that.
How sure are you of your bike fit? Don’t buy used without having a good knowledge of the right frame size and the adjustment range you need.
Frankengrupos aren’t a problem by themselves. The problem is that some/many components are already 10 years old. 10 years is a long time for an elite bike to remain elite, and I sense this bike is more of a collectors item than a good investment for an aspiring roadie.
Ten years ago a bike like this sold at retail for $3000. If you were buying a 10 year old car, would you pay 30% of list price today?
Me? I’d try to find something that fits like a glove, has thru-axle wheels, hydraulic brakes, wide tires and at least an 11 cog cassette. You might have to pay more than $1K in the used market, but you’ll get a few more years of longevity from it.
Hell no
Absolutely not
Nope
I can’t envision any 2015 mass manufactured, rim brake, mechanical shifting bike that’s worth 1k.
