I didn’t go to Albania just to ride my bike. I went to push myself into the unknown, to immerse in a country with a complex past, and to discover what happens when you slow down and open yourself up to the world.
This bike-packing trip took me through Albania’s rugged mountains, remote villages, and unforgiving terrain. But what stayed with me most wasn’t the harsh climbs or the endless roads, it was the people. The smallest acts of kindness from strangers reminded me that the greatest journeys aren’t measured in kilometres, but in the connections that change us along the way.
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to step outside your comfort zone, to immerse yourself fully in a culture, or to find beauty in both struggle and kindness, this story is for you.
If you’d like to look into this route yourself, here is the route I followed, taken with inspiration from Raki Roads – Bikepacking.com
